Ian was recognised for his contribution to Speedway Racing by being anointed as a Life Member of Premier Speedway an honour that was also bestowed upon him by the Australian Speedway Promoters Association and also the Victorian Speedway Promoters Association. Ian Sheppard also served as a Director of World Series Sprintcars.
