In December 2016 the Premier Speedway Club, Warrnambool scheduled "Max's Race" in honour of Speedway Legend - Max Dumesny for the very first time.
Max, was born and bred in the Warrnambool area (Nullawarre) and spent many of his youthful years at Premier Speedway before becoming one of the fan favourites each and every time his familiar V5 Sprintcar would hit the track.
Being a three-time Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic Champion, a three-time Australian Sprintcar Champion and a seven-time World Series Sprintcars Champion, Max was truly deserving of this honour.
Dumesny has also claimed an amazing 32 career Easter Trail victories, of which 11 have been at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool.
An indication of the respect his fellow competitors have for Max was evident at the inaugural Max's Race where a field of 64 cars participated in an event that went the way of another Warrnambool based driver Jamie Veal ahead of James McFadden and Steven Lines.
In 2017 Veal became a two-time Max’s Race Champion when he again claimed the victory from Sam Walsh and Steven Lines.
