Following the success of a similar venture during Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Speedweek, the Promotion of all three venues involved in the traditional Easter Sprintcar Trail at Avalon International Raceway, Borderline Speedway, Mt. Gambier and Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool have seen fit to once again open the pit enclosure to the General Public between 3.00 and 4.00pm on race day.
The opening of the pits will coincide with the opening of the public gates.
What this will mean is that those spectators, that may not usually get the opportunity to view the teams in preparation stage for one of the Big Weekend’s of the season, will get to do so. Likewise the opportunity will present itself for all teams to display and sell merchandise from their race trailers.
“All three tracks recently met, as we do every couple of months and we all agreed that the Open Pit idea worked very well and received some positive feedback during World Series, so we thought Easter and the Easter Trail was a perfect opportunity to give the race fans and especially those with young families an opportunity to come in and see the stars and their cars prior to racing kicking off”, Premier Speedway General Manager David Mills said.
Adding to the family friendly nature of the weekend will be the chance for two youngsters at Sunday night’s Premier Speedway round to take home a btand new BMX Bike courtesy of Toyworld Warrnambool.
“Peter Sedgley at Warrnambool Toyworld has been a great supporter of Premier Speedway in recent times and to have a couple of bikes to give away is another great thing at Easter as we draw the curtain on what has been another exciting season of racing”, David Mills said.
Both Avalon and Warrnambool will have massive fireworks displays as a part of the program as well, which is sure to keep the kids on the edge of their seats.
Now with just over a week until the traditional season ending Easter Sprintcar Trail the excitement is beginning to build with nominations in the high forties expected with a massive 51 drivers having nominated for Sunday’s grand finale at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway, Warrnambool.
With each night paying an impressive $5000.00 to win and an overall series bonus of a further $3000 for 1st, $2000 for 2nd and $1000 for third and total payout exceeding $110,000 will go up for grabs.
With the likes of Max Dumesny, Robbie Farr, David Murcott, Steven Lines, Grant Anderson and Ryan Farrell all set to grace the track at one time or another throughout the trail the on-track action is sure to reach fever pitch.
“The fields for all three nights of the Easter Trail are just sensational and to attract some of the sports biggest names amongst 50 odd nominations shows that the Easter Trail at Avalon, Mt. Gambier and Warrnambool is as strong as ever, I for one can’t wait for Good Friday so we can turn these guys and girls loose”, Mills added.
