There has been an air of anticipation leading up to the 2025 Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship.
A talented 32-car field, made up of drivers from all across the country, will represent their states in what is expected to be a highly competitive event. Thirteen drivers from New South Wales, five from Queensland, and fourteen from Victoria will battle it out for the prestigious Australian Championship.
The star-studded field boasts some of the country’s finest talent, with top contenders including defending Australian Champion David Clark, who is also a NSW & VIC State Champion. No less than five Australian Champions will compete for the 2025 Championship, achieving twelve Championships amongst them.
Queensland’s Kevin Britten, who is the recent Queensland State Champion, and a former five-time National Champion will be a serious contender, as well as former Australian Champions Scott Cannon, Mark Robinson, and Andrew Pezzutti, all of whom will bring their wealth of experience to the track.
Pezzutti won his sole Championship back in 1993, and thirty-two years later remains in a competitive position. Cannon is another seasoned veteran winning his national crown in the 2000/01 season and today is still considered a chance to win his second.
With V8 Dirt Modifieds not competing regularly at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway, broadens the chances of many competitors, making it ultimately an even playing field. Additionally, at the prelude run on December 14 track conditions were quite heavy. With the warm weather predicted for the Championship weekend track conditions would be expected to be much drier.
Victorian Brett Clarke claimed the December 14 feature win over fellow Victorian Zac McDonald, no doubt giving them some extra confidence over their competitors heading into the weekend and importantly vital track experience.
Other drivers to keep an eye on for the weekend include Chris and Dale Corbett, Seiton Young, Brock Gardiner, Michael and Shane Ardley, Matt and Marcus Reddecliffe, and Paul Tindal, each bringing their own unique style to the dirt and adding to the event’s already competitive nature, setting the stage for an intense battle for the Championship title.
The remainder of the talented field includes Rodin Blackman, Owen Scott, Phil Roberts, Paul Markulin, Brent Hough, Sam Bruggy, Zac McDonald, Steve Edwards, Dave Hayne, Zeke Edwards, Jack Smith, Andrew Katz, Tyler Scott, Brayd Stephenson, Joshua Rose, Blake Eveleigh, and Daryl Hickson. With such a diverse and skilled lineup, no one can predict who will come out on top in what is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling V8 Dirt Modified Championships.
