Courtesy of his emphatic win at the Super Rod Cup, Warrnambool registered driver Jamie May is the new points leader in the JD Race Parts Super Rod Track Championship.
May has been impressive this season at Sungold Stadium, having not finished off the podium in three races, two of which he has scored wins.
Victorian Champion Shaun Walsh, who was the previous leader, isn’t far behind, having scored the other win at the venue this season.
Stan Marco Jnr. remains in third place albeit slipping back points wise following Round 3, now requiring a strong finish at Easter to stamp his claim on the Championship.
While mathematically the championship remains open, the closeness of the points structure makes it difficult to come from too far back. Paul Verhoeven in fourth place is still an outside chance but relies on those ahead of him making a mistake at the fourth and final round on Easter Sunday.
