A cracking field of 40 Sprintcars headline the season opener at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway on Saturday November 2.
The program presented by 3YB FM / Coast FM Warrnambool includes Sprintcars and Wingless Sprints.
Sprintcars will be accumulating points for the season long Total Tools Warrnambool Track Championship presented by The Midfield Group, Fitzmedia Live and new partner Warrnambool Trailers.
Reigning Total Tools Warrnambool Sprintcar Track Champion and last weekend’s feature race winner at Avalon Jamie Veal headlines the Sprintcar nominations.
Veal will have a strong field to compete against with former Australian Champions Jock Goodyer and Marcus Dumesny in the field.
Seasoned veterans such as Albury’s Grant Anderson, Brett Milburn and Adelaide’s Luke Dillon are always a chance of taking top spot at Sungold Stadium. Former ‘Classic’ champion Corey McCullagh who showed great speed at Avalon Raceway last weekend will be looking to bring that form into this weekend.
The depth in the field is tantalising with reigning SRA Series champion Bobby Daly amongst a crop of young talent including Rusty Hickman and Warrnambool locals Peter Doukas and Ashley Cook.
Tasmania has great representation for the weekend with four cars nominated. Aside from Goodyer, Tate Frost is an emerging talent and is joined by fellow Tasmanians Tim Hutchins and Chad Gardner.
Wingless Sprints again bring strong numbers with 46 nominations for this weekends event. Chris Temby comes in with winning form from Avalon last week, along with fellow podium finisher Travis Millar. Current Northern Territory champion Blake Walsh has been in scintillating form over the past twelve months and cannot be discounted along with Simpson’s Matt Symons, a regular front runner in the division.
The new surface and track shape will no doubt add to what is gearing up to be a fantastic opening event.
Public gates will open at 4.00pm with on-track action commencing from 5.15pm.
There will be a public pit walk from 4.00pm (once gates cleared) until 4.45pm. Patrons must enter and exit from the internal pit entrance beside the Allansford side canteen.
